Modelling Platform Business Using Different Three Approaches (tangible Ecosystem Design/ Ted, Platform Business Model Map, E3 Value Methodology) for Airbnb, Uber and Amazon Marketplace, and Comparing Among the Findings

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to understand how the business models for platform businesses function and later create business models based on the knowledge. The three distinct approaches for this thesis report are the Tangible ecosystem design, the Platform Business Model Map, and the e3 value methodology. This study will observe three case studies on different domains, focusing on Uber, Airbnb, and Amazon Marketplace. These companies were chosen due to their unique platform business landscape and their position as revolutionary market leaders. The study will explore the existing definitions of business platforms, the significance different business models hold along with their unique characteristics. In addition, key concepts relevant to the scope of the research will be addressed, including network effects and business ecosystems, among others. The relevant literature will serve as a starting point for understanding the importance and ecosystem of platform businesses, including the work of Dann and others (2022), Rong and others (2013), Prof R. Srinivasan (2021) and others. Finally, the research pursues to harbor a better understanding of the functions of platform businesses by comparing the three distinct approaches. This study aims to contribute value insights needed to develop business platforms that navigate entrepreneurs of various industries. The results derived from this study will also benefit business strategists and researchers who wish to unravel the complexity of platform-based business structures. By combining theoretical research with real- life practices and prominent companies, the knowledge will assist businesses to bloom in competitive and ever-changing platform-based businesses.
