The studies that cover the roles and responsibilities do not reach consensus amongst each other concerning role types and definitions. The purpose of this thesis is to find a suitable set of roles in the literature, to investigate which skills are representative for each role, and to identify a test that can predict the roles of its candidates. Using an analysis of variance (ANOVA), this thesis analyzed the EAM roles of a common EA framework for statistical similarities. Additionally, a survey was carried out among enterprise architects to identify skills of said framework that are representative for the analyzed roles. The resulting four roles and twenty representative skills were used to create a skill test proposal that can be used to survey an EA professional to predict their role. As the skill test proposal was not carried out, a follow-up study is suggested to offset its limitations and test its predictive power.
