After a period of color abstinence, saturated colors are making a comeback in interior design, not only in private housing but also in public spaces. This bachelor thesis explores the importance of color psychology and its effects on individuals. It addresses questions regarding the impact of colors and ways to manipulate them, providing insights that inform interior designers on how to utilize color to create desired atmospheres for both the space and the occupants. The thesis also delves into the significance of light, which is often overlooked in the design process but plays a crucial role in color perception and environmental impact. Additionally, the thesis examines previous design periods characterized by color enthusiasm, studying important figures and their contributions to better understand their relationship with color and its relevance to the current design era. The research methodology involves qualitative secondary data, interviews, and case studies to gather the necessary information for the thesis. Keywords: color psychology, interior design, color effects, manipulation, atmosphere, light, color perception, design periods, qualitative research, interviews, case studiesen
