Abstract
"This thesis investigates the creation of multifunctional retail spaces through the use of flexible furniture. It gives an insight on why multifunctional retail spaces are needed and it explores how more than one function can be integrated into conventional retail spaces. Following a short introduction of the history of retail spaces and looking into the categories of multifunctional retail spaces, flexible furniture is analyzed with the qualitative research method of case studies. The questions that are asked are: What is the retail space of the future? How can two or more functions be combined together in retail spaces through the use of flexible furniture?"
