According to the Mental Health Organization, some of the most effective procedures to prevent and relieve stress are: maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical exercise, meditation, as well as muscle relaxation and aromatherapy. A specific category of spaces, that served the purpose of maintaining or regaining ones personal well-being throughout history, were public bathing facilities. This thesis is analyzing this category, its characteristics and what it is, our modern society is longing for in a space that promotes our general well-being. It is an overall aim to provide a fresh perspective on a topic that has been of great interest throughout history while drawing connections to the increasing numbers in mental and physical health, especially but not exclusively for inhabitants of big cities such as Berlin.en
